I am looking for my Aunt Essie McDonald (O Donoghue). She was born in 1921 in a place called Glenmore near Mullinavat in County Kilkenny. Her Grandmother's name was Burns and she came from Roscrea in Tipperary. She also had a aunt in Roscrea called Maggie Gannon. I know that Essie did not get on with her father's family (mc Donald's). Her Father was a deserter of the army and travelled around the south east of Ireland looking for work and went by the name of O Donoghue also ( Essie might be also known as this). When she was about 16 she took it upon herself to go to a convent in New Ross,Wexford for about a year and her family remember visiting her there The convent was "The Good Shepherd". She also went to a convent in Waterford called "The Good Shepherd" when she was about 17 years old. Her brother Jimmy has told me that she was a bit uneasy when she came back from the convents and did not seem to settle back into the life she was used to. Again if anybody knows anything about Essie or relatives I would love to hear from them.
