Civil Defence Help
Date: 7/23/2005
I would like to highlight the very important work of the Civil Defence particularly in relation to finding missing persons. These highly trained volunteers give of their time to assist in searches on land and water all over Ireland.
They are more than willing to assist in searching when they are called upon by An Garda Siochana to do so. I think that it is vitally important that they are called upon as soon as possible.
It can however happen that they are not called upon until days after a person has been reported missing or are not called out at all. It is mportant that every Garda Station has the contact details for the local civil defence (all of which are available on the civil defence website).
So much time and indeed lives can be saved if these services are put to use as quickly as possible.
